I am an amateur collector thanks to the porcelain and crystal that I inherited and received as gifts. My intention in starting a site was to put up a couple of pages and gather information about my collection, but it has become something much different. The site has now become an information resource on the decorative arts for Bohemian, Czechoslovakian, and Austrian porcelain. I have been so over loaded with work in this area I have not been able to do the crystal and glass pages.
I have now read numerous books and communicated with various experts on Bohemian and Czechoslovakian porcelain. I am still an amateur, but I am continually becoming more knowledgeable. I enjoy sharing my knowledge. The challenge of identifying marks is fun.
I want to see the value of Bohemian porcelain increase. One of the ways I do this is by watching eBay auctions. When I see Bohemian and Czechoslovakian porcelain being misrepresented, I put on my cranky hat and send the seller appropriate information for the piece listed.
Professionally, I am a quality assurance engineering manager, technical trainer, and computer systems analyst. Since the dot-com bomb dropped in 2001, I have been working as an independent consultant to small companies assisting them with their computers, business systems, and Web sites. I have a Bachelor's degree in management from George Fox University.
Personally, I am married, have a grown daughter, a dog, four cats, and two honorary granddaughters. I want to live in Hawaii where our daughter lives, but until then, I am going local on the mainland in a suburb of Portland, Oregon.
Business, as well as this Web site, I am developing a Web site so everyone can enjoy the aesthetics of Hawaii on the mainland. HawaiiByDesign.com will be live very soon.
Avocation, I was a lay counselor working with birthmothers and adoptees. I spent several years in the adoption reform movement helping reunite birthmothers and adoptees. In addition, I drafted and lobbied legislation for birthparents, adoptees, and adoptive parents to have access to secreted files. I am a published writer. I no longer work in adoption reform, but maintain a Web site with resources for those needing information www.ansrs.com Adoption Network for Search Reunion and Support, ANSRS. On my main page, there are memorials to my birthmother and my adoptive father.
If you want to know even more about me there is my personal home page.
