(Bohemian and Czechoslovakian Ceramics & Porcelain)
1939 New York World's Fair Czecho-slovakia Pavilion
Porcelain Display
Thun AS Klásterec
Thun Karlovarský Porcelán AS Závod Nova Role, Czech Republic

"Bohemia" Ceramic Works AG had the honor of being chosen to provide the example of the porcelain to be displayed at the 1939 World's Fair. This speaks highly of the porcelain produced by this factory, considering the people of Czechoslovakia wanted to display their best for the world.
There were three 142 piece sets, one was trimmed in blue, another was trimmed in red and the third was this set trimmed in green. There is much gold trim, and the center motifs are reproductions of Angelica Kauffmann paintings, without the signature. This set has at least two different shapes, Empire and Antoinette. There may be a third shape, Supremacy; there is a Mark for Supremacy on some of the pieces. It is said that Eddy Cantor bought the blue set and Vincent Astor bought the red set. This green set was originally sold to a dealer in Colorado, and was subsequently purchased by the Chisolms. It was again sold in New York in 1976, and is now in Texas. I have no hard evidence to these statements, only the owners statements.
